Following our thoughts to where they want to take us is a lot like a dog following a trail of scent/ smell- you can run off oblivious of your surroundings, ending up on the horizon. Eckhart wittily talks about how following a trail of thought can start with ‘am hungry, need to find a restaurant’ and end with ‘oh my life is dreadful!’…in a matter of minutes! The answer is- presence.
